7 Ways to Celebrate Respect Your Cat Day

August 23, 2024

March 28th is a pretty important day for our feline friends. It’s Respect Your Cat Day! Of course, kitties have a way of demanding respect every day. Anyone who’s ever been late with their pet’s breakfast can tell you that! However, showing your cute pet her proper dues does go further than filling her food bowls on time. Here, a Helotes, TX vet lists some simple ways to make sure your furry buddy feels respected.

Play

Kitties may be small and cute, but don’t forget that they are actually predators by nature. Your adorable little pet is really a pint-sized lion. Provide your furry pal with lots of fun toys, and play with her regularly. Pick up a few new playthings for your cat!

Clean Litterbox

Admittedly, this one probably won’t be the highlight of your day. However, it is a great way for your kitty to feel properly respected.

Proper Nutrition

You don’t have to go broke buying pet food, but it is important to make sure that your feline pal is getting proper nourishment. It may be time to upgrade your cat’s dinner menu! Ask your vet for recommendations.

Treats

Cats can be finicky about snacks, but most of them do have a few favorites. If you haven’t found a treat your kitty likes yet, keep trying. Plain, boneless, cooked meat, fish, or chicken are all fine.

New Purrniture

Your fuzzy pal won’t be shy about making herself comfortable on your things. However, kitties do benefit from having things made just for them. Offer your cute pet a few essentials, such as cat towers, pet tends, and, of course, scratching posts.

Veterinary Appointment

We know: given the opportunity, your kitty would scratch this one right off the list, rather than have her daily napping schedule disrupted. However, your furry friend will be healthier—and therefore happier—with proper care. There may be no better way to show your cat respect than by protecting her from dangerous diseases and parasites!

Conversations

Cats are truly lovable, and can form very close bonds with their owners. However, that love has to be nurtured. One of the best ways to do that is to just talk to your feline buddy. Some kitties even talk back!
