Holiday Gifts for Dogs

August 23, 2024

The holiday season is officially here. Many people are choosing gifts for their loved ones. Don’t forget to pick up a few things for your canine companion! A local Helotes, TX vet lists a few ‘pawesome’ holiday gifts for dogs in this article.

Beds

A good bed is a wonderful gift for your canine buddy. While a basic bed is fine for any pooch, keep in mind that some pups do have specific preferences here. A small dog may feel safer in a bed with raised sides, while a larger breed or older dog may appreciate the extra support of an orthopedic bed.

Toys

Toys, of course, are probably the most popular gift for Man’s Best Friend. Dogs use different types of toys for different purposes. A plushy toy may be comforting to your cute pet, while a puzzle toy may keep him occupied and out of mischief while you’re out. If you have a furry, four-legged bundle of zoom, look for something that will help your pet burn off his excess energy, like a mechanical ball launcher. (Note: these are not safe for very large dogs, as they can choke on tennis balls.)

Homemade Treats

If there’s one thing that will get any pup’s tail going, it’s the thought of a tasty treat. You can of course buy your canine pal’s snacks, but if you like cooking–especially around the holidays–you can make homemade doggy treats. You’ll find great recipes online. Just be careful to use only ingredients that are safe for dogs. Ask your vet for more information.

Pupscription Box

Want to keep that cute tail going all year long? Sign up for a doggy subscription box. Your furry friend will regularly get his very own package of goodies in the mail. (We probably don’t have to tell you how cute it is seeing dogs get excited over their mail.)

Yard Pupgrade

Do you have a yard for your pet to run and play in? Make your pup’s outdoor place more fun for him by adding doggy luxury items. A doghouse is a great option.  You can also include a kiddie pool, a sandbox, and, of course, outdoor toys.

Happy Holidays from everyone here at Pipe Creek Animal Clinic, your Helotes, TX pet hospital. Please reach out to us, your local veterinary clinic, for all of your pet’s veterinary care needs. We’re here to help!
